Have you ever seen a picture from years ago and it instantly takes you back to that time? - Not a picture that you have on the wall that you see each day, but one deep in your photos list that you hadn't seen in months, maybe years? Or, have you ever rummaged through the garage looking for something and stumble upon a forgotten video camera buried under a mound of stuff? When you see that picture or watch those old videos the memories it pulls up seem sweeter, more nostalgic, more... memorable. Maybe it's because you forgot that memory was even there, hiding out in the folds of your brain, do they have that effect.

When you see that old picture or watch those old videos, the memories it pulls up seem sweeter, more nostalgic, more... memorable

From experience, I've learned that those same types of memories exists in the shows we watch. Sure, we can remember the names of the shows that we loved and maybe even the overall theme of each season. However, when it gets to the specific episodes, it's harder - if not impossible - to remember by heart what made them so impactful. Rest in peace trying to search online for a specifc scene. Those memories stay buried unless you have time to rewatch the entire series or read through pages of Wiki descriptions.

Why not save why you loved those episodes quickly and easily as you watch the first time? That way you can return to the show months, years, or decades later and joyfully remember what made that show so special. When you log it, you have an advantage: you can pick something at random based on how you scored it at the time or choose based on the mood you're in. With Left Off it's possible and so easy. Here's how:

Step 1 - Add Your show

Step 1 - Add Your Show
Step 1 - Add Your Show

While you're watching your show, keep the app open and save notes and reactions as you watch. For each entry, you can select muliple reactions to log what made the episode entertaining. You can also save your watch time if you don't finish the episode in that sitting.

Step 2 - Watch them Grow

For any entry that includes a season and episode value, it is automatically added to the Epside Map. As you watch and log, you "grow" or fill in the cells of the map or grid. Episodes with more reactions assigned and longer notes appear darker so you can see at a glance which episodes were more entertaining. They are also scored higher with a number from 1 to 10.

Step 3 - Pat Yourself on the Back

Later on, whenever you want to re-watch the show, you can return to this screen and pick an episode at random based on how entertaining you found the episode. Alternatively, you can tap an entry to see specific details about the episode and pick based on those notes. You can also change what you've saved from the Videos tab if you need to update anything.

In the long run, logging your reactions lets you rate your shows based on what you find entertaining. Sure you can get a rating for a show on Google or IDMB, but those are based on what others find entertaining.

Now, those who watch anime may be thinking about how they can avoid fillers with a tool like animefillerlist.com. However, there may be filler episodes that were very entertaining to you; whether it was funny or heartfelt or inspiring. (You can even combine the filler list with your Left Off entries to choose even more precisely what you want to re-watch; say if you wanted to re-watch a non-filler episode that also had a great fight scene for example.)

If you're going to watch, why not quickly save your reactions so you have a reference for later. Nothing beats having your own personalized ratings for your favorite shows. You can also share your ratings with friends who ask for recommendations on what to watch. Thanks for reading this far!
